I just had this weird idea to try this. I began looking at it for a long period of time and hello started becoming other words. Then I decided to make an accompanying ‘goodbye.’ I think words out of context are so interesting. A simple phrase could literally mean anything to anyone. And to think about negative space effecting phrases and words and letters is so mind boggling to me.

My good friend Jim Gullett and I have begun a collaboration. It’s going to be a series of my photographs, mostly landscapes, with Jim’s illustrations over them and in some cases interacting with the landscapes. Jim and I both have a passion for the beauty found in the brownish and desolate desert landscapes of central Oregon therefore this photo was a really good place to begin the project.
